Simulation games provide a stimulating group
environment designed to introduce ideas, concepts, and principles
related to a
common experience for the participants. The cooperation and compromise
which
occurs in most simulations can be used to establish an atmosphere of
experiential learning. A simulation game provides a common experience
for
illustrating ideas, focusing questions, and providing examples of
different
points of view. Plus, the sense of camaraderie the participants
experience in a
simulation game will add to the enjoyment of the entire group.
The BaFa BaFa simulation examines the values, expectations, and customs of two cultures. The game will illustrate how a lack of understanding of the perspectives of others can lead to misconceptions, a breakdown in communications, and counterproductive attitudes and behavior. Discussion focuses on eliminating misunderstandings, to reduce suspicion and facilitate interaction and cooperation. (2-3 hours to play)
"Excellent
exercise! I
feel that we need to be continually reminded about other value systems,

SIMSOC stands for Simulated Society, for that is what the game is all about... "simulating a society." SIMSOC helps the participants to gain an insight into the process of dealing with the multi-faceted complexities of maintaining a "society." The participants are placed in a situation where communication skills, trust, problem-solving, and face-to-face interactions are a must. SIMSOC is an excellent teaching tool for those who need to truly "experience" the complexities of working with the broad spectrum of needs, wants, and desires of a diverse group of people. (6-8 hours to play)
"Very
realistic model; excellent training and modeling that is reflective of
